He is a licensed insurance agent and has specialized in long term care insurance since 1995. He is licensed to sell long term care insurance in over 30 states. Scott is an expert on the three main types of long-term care coverage:

- long-term care partnership policies
- “hybrid” policies
In 1999, he became one of the first insurance professionals in the country to earn the CLTC designation.
Scott was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Rutgers University. Scott began his insurance career in Florida and lived there for nearly 14 years. Scott and his wife Carolyn reside in Camano Island, Washington.
